Identifying The Whore of Babylon, Part 6 – Revelation and Ezekiel 23

[Rev 17:1] Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters,

[Rev 17:3] And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.

[Rev 17:5] and on her forehead a name [was] written, a mystery, “BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” 

[Rev 13:16] And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 

[Rev 13:17] and [he provides] that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, [either] the name of the beast or the number of his name.

[Rev 17:18] “The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.”

Rev 11:8 indicates that Jerusalem is the Great City. The great city is the woman who rides the beast. The woman is the great harlot. Jerusalem is the harlot based on Biblical and historical evidence

[Eze 23:1] The word of the LORD came to me again, saying,

[Eze 23:2] “Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother; (she was the mother of harlots)

[Eze 23:3] and they played the harlot in Egypt. They played the harlot in their youth; there their breasts were pressed and there their virgin bosom was handled.

[Eze 23:4] “Their names were Oholah (her own tent) the elder and Oholibah (“woman of the tent” or “the tent is in her”) her sister. And they became Mine, and they bore sons and daughters. And [as for] their names, Samaria is Oholah and Jerusalem is Oholibah.

[Eze 23:5] “Oholah played the harlot while she was Mine; and she lusted after her lovers, after the Assyrians, [her] neighbors,

[Eze 23:6] who were clothed in purple, governors and officials, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses.

[Eze 23:7] “She bestowed her harlotries on them, all of whom [were] the choicest men of Assyria; and with all whom she lusted after, with all their idols she defiled herself.

[Eze 23:8] “She did not forsake her harlotries from [the time in] Egypt; for in her youth men had lain with her, and they handled her virgin bosom and poured out their lust on her.

[Eze 23:9] “Therefore, I gave her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians (721 B.C.), after whom she lusted.

[Eze 23:10] “They uncovered her nakedness; they took her sons and her daughters, but they slew her with the sword. Thus she became a byword among women, and they executed judgments on her.
